Do you regularly take herbs such as anise, nettle or fennel? These herbs can have such an effect, as can marijuana. I knew a woman that still produced milk after 3 years, and she was told it was because she regularly examined her breasts! The condition your friend mentioned is called galactorrhea, excessive or unexplained lactation, and is not dangerous in itself, but can be a sign of other problems, such as a hormonal imbalance or problems with the pituitary gland. Other symptoms of this are-
irregular or absent menstrual periods, headaches or vision problems,increased hair growth, increased acne, hot flashes, vaginal dryness,lessened interest in sex.
The herbs sage, peppermint and parsley are known to help reduce lactation if taken in theraputic quantities.
