Re: about milk...thanks everyone
Dear no-biz,
I understand everybody can not be made to eat the same foods, You can only encourage people to eat right, but the ultimate decision is theirs to make.
If you must have milk, it is wise to stop and talk to the owner of any farmer that raises beef cattle (just drive around in the country on a sightseeing tour). They are usually happy to let somebody milk a cow that has had a calf, instead of the farmer letting the cow go dry and lose her heavier weight. The farmers do not charge people that want to get milk from their beef cows.
If you lived near me in North Carolina, I could introduce you to beef cattle farmers that would be glad to help.
Act interested and ask questions first. Ask the farmer how long it takes the baby calf to be adult size. If he says about 7 months...run away from there, because it means he has injected them with a chemical growth hormone.
The reason for this is... beef cattle farmers do not inject beef cattle with hormones to produce more milk.
The problem with dairy cattle is, more hormone injections means more milk to sell.
Dairy cattle develope bacteria infections from the milking machines, and causes blood in the milk too. Then the dairy farmers inject tubes of antibiotics in the teats, which leaks out into the next milking.
I have worked on farms when I was a kid for a little extra spending money. I saw all those problems.
There are plenty of reasons not to drink milk. But if you must
Milk has a PH of about 6.5 ....and Milk has vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin and nicotinic acid but is a poor source of vitamin C and E. It also contain vitamin B12 which is absent in vegetarian food items. milk also neutralizes several toxins.
Minerals of milk are calcium, phosphorous, sodium and potassium. (but low on iron)
There is less chance of infected raw milk in beef cattle, but raw milk is riskier from dairy cattle. Considering the bacteria and infected blood in the milk, plus the second hand antibiotics and chemical hormones you may be ingesting with the milk.
The milk went to a chilled vat that holds hundreds of gallons. Every vat of milk is tested, and every test showed blood in the milk (don't forget the hormones and antibiotics in the blood). It is unavoidable in any dairy that uses milking machines, and too time consuming to milk every cow by hand.
