Re: Varicose Veins
I've had trouble with varicose veins for years. I've tried many herbal supplements, in capsule form, with little success--although a topical horse chestnut cream applied on the legs does bring some relief. I live with and care for a quadriplegic who needs total care--I have many long days on my feet.
I've had great success with fresh juices, though--and believe my juicer to be one of the wisest purchases I'll have made in my life.
Celery is a natural dieuretic, which regulates blood pressure, as well as helps keep fluids flowing as they should.
Black grapes, blackberries, blueberries--or any combination of these are excellent.
I've also found that a compress of apple cider vinegar placed directly on the venis for 20 minutes helps when things are really painful. Also two tbsp ACV diluted in water can be taken orally along with the compress.
I use juices, in addition to lots and lots of water. Since I've begun using juices and natural foods, I've had much more success--as long as I am consistent.
I also wear only support socks, elevate my legs whenever possible while sitting. The idea is to have your feet higher than your heart--this allows gravity to help you bring those fluids back to the heart for recirculation. Massaging the feet and legs (but not directly on the veins) is also good to keep circulation going. I've found walking the best exercise for circulation--and even sitting down (at the computer, for example) moving the feet up and down flexes the muscles around the ankles and shins--they help pump the blood back to the heart as well. I don't know that I'll ever "cure" my varicose veins, but I do get along better with them these days.
Hope some of these suggestions might help you.
