Could it have been Posterior Vitreous Detachment?

That is what I had about 1 year ago. I am female, highly myopic and 52 years of age.

My eye doctor told me it was nothing to worry about and since it detached I now I am less likely to have a retinal problem (like my mother did at my age and had to have laser surgery to reattach her retina.
