That does sound similar, but der "Vogel Partei" is different. Interesting that this Vogel thing is linked to different events across Germany. There were various back to land movements at the time. Just Imagine a country devastated by WWI, sent headlong into a depression-then some kook tries to rally them against the world.

Unrelated but I just found out about a group of men "Forest Brothers" that refused to bow down to Communism in Estonia-the last survivor August Sabe drowned himself to escape the KGB on Sept 28, 1978. At least he died free.
