MoreThis is a reply to # 342,531Schluggell! Have you ever heard of Gustov Wynkyns and the Vonder Vogel! I believe I am related to him and I have been looking for infomation for years but can find nothing! There is supposedly a great history to these people and I do not believe thay are the same Wander vogel as Hitler youth but that their name was taken from them and bastardized by the Nazis! Chaz

Sounds like a Skandahoovien name...Any more details? Something seems wrong with the spelling. I can help better with German/Eastern Jew (Galizien) resources.

MoreThis is a reply to # 342,536It seems that "Vonder Vogel" is referred to more correctly as ...von der 'Vogel-Partei'.
Also, has something to do with the 'Spreewald' historically. The Spreewald is a vacation community & nature preserve outside Berlin. During WWII was the site of one of Hitler's intelligence agencies. After the war, the base was flooded and is now a lake.
Because the area has many lakes and rivers, this area also saw the use of U-boats. I do not know for what purpose though.

This is a reply to # 342,540Thank Shluggell! The little bit I know about Gustov and his Vonder Vogel is that they where a group of people in a back to the land movement and where then hunted down by the Nazi's and executed ! Somewhere in the Black Forest!

That does sound similar, but der "Vogel Partei" is different. Interesting that this Vogel thing is linked to different events across Germany. There were various back to land movements at the time. Just Imagine a country devastated by WWI, sent headlong into a depression-then some kook tries to rally them against the world.
Unrelated but I just found out about a group of men "Forest Brothers" that refused to bow down to Communism in Estonia-the last survivor August Sabe drowned himself to escape the KGB on Sept 28, 1978. At least he died free.- Re: Forest Brothers... Chaz

This is a reply to # 342,542Thanks Schluggell! My searches produce nothing and no matter how I spell either name nothing pertinent comes up! Even Vonder Vogel asks if I mean Von Der Vogel!
