Re: from what I've read...
I don't know, I like the idea of a fruitarian diet for many reasons, but have real serious doubts about whether fruitarians really just eat fruit or cheat in secret. There's also the issue of even organic fruit being picked green before the nutrients are really developed, possibly irradiated if it's imported from, say, South America, and even if it's picked ripe, that soil it was grown in is likely much less rich in nutrients than it was even just 100 years ago, much less how it was when we were all hunter-gatherers. I don't know, I think a lot of the energy people talk about from a fruitarian diet is essentially a
Sugar high, and most people can't realistically do that diet long-term, but that's just my hunch about it. Just for myself, when I don't get enough fat and concentrated protein in my diet, I tend to reach for higher carb things and I'll often go for fruit because I figure better that than breads or grains, but then I get a
Sugar crash later. I feel great on most raw vegetables with just a little sweeter fruit, but personally if I don't eat a little animal protein a few times each week in the form of eggs or fish, sometimes a little chicken, I feel very spacey, ugrounded, and kind of weak. I eat virtually no processed food anymore, as whole and natural as possible. I still don't have a healthy gut and liver, though, so that could be part of the problem. It's an interesting concept, though. A lot of things about it make sense, but I'm still not really sold.
