from what I've read...

The main issue that might arise with fruitarianism is sugar-related effects. Because you're ingesting so much Sugar (even with avocados, etc), you have to be VERY careful not to let it affect your teeth, and you may also become addicted to sugar. In fact, it's highly possible. I think it's an awesome idea to try short term, however, just to see for myself. I know you'd suffer some consequences if you ate all fruit and nothing else, but I think there would be some short term benefits. You just have to brush your teeth well, and floss, to keep your teeth from getting adversely affected. I've heard that a lot of the problems fruitarians experience are similar to those that bulimics experience. Deteriorated teeth (not for the same reason, obviously), food addictions, binge-eating (this seems to be a drawback, and seems to be more prevalent in those that are very strict), etc. The difference in our fruit and the fruit we used to eat WAY back when, is that today's fruit is much much sweeter. Wild fruit isn't nearly as sweet as the kind you buy at the market, so that's why it can't serve as a substitute for brushing your teeth, and why you actually have to be more diligent about taking care of your teeth. Nevertheless, I'm still going to give it a shot. I'm not in top health right now, and I need to start treating my body better. I was thinking I'd go at least 75% fruit, and when it feels like I've gleaned all the benefits from it, or when if it starts to become detrimental, I'd switch to just a simple raw diet. I'm about 50-65% raw right now, but I'm having a hard time with coffee and with bread. Anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone who has any advice about fruitarianism. I try to be as informed as possible, even though it usually means letting go of some of my idealistic notions :(
