Vitamin D has the highest toxicity potential of the vitamins, and also has a narrow dosage range. Most people get adequate amounts of D in their diet and exposure to the sun. 400IU is the RDA for D. In cases where there is a deficiency of D, therapeutic doses of 1,000-1,500IU MAXIMUM are used for brief periods of time. It is theorized that sun poisoning is actually, in part, due to an overabundance of vitamin D. It is also a fat-soluble vitamin which means that it does not immediately clear the body and consequently has a cummulative effect. Not only is this daily dosage IU of D dangerous, but cod liver oil is a natural source of vitamin D...so the dose is even greater than it appears!

Excessive thirst, diarrhea, nausea, weakness and headaches are milder symptoms of vitamin D toxicity. Increased levels of calcium and phosphorous in the blood and urine, and abnormal calcification of soft tissue can also occur. Excessive intake of vitamin D causes calcium to leach from the bones (hence the increased serum levels) which may lead to weakened (rather than strengthened...when appropriate levels exist) skeletal structure. Excess vitamin D may also speed up the development of artherosclerosis.

I have yet to see a 'quick-fix' for candida. Successful, long-term treatment involves diet and lifestyle modifications, detoxification, using anti-fungals, establishing hormonal balance, replacing beneficial bacteria and rebuilding the immune system...a multiphasic approach.
