Vitex and Guggul

Hi Shelley and anyone else reading,
Do you (or anyone) know about Vitex and Guggul for combatting cystic acne? I read about it in "Prescription for Herbal Healing" I think Vitex affects hormone production and I'm not sure what Guggul's main action is (anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory???) I am looking for anything at this point. My skin is most sensitive pms, but now symptoms subside only gradually post menstrually.
Also, I tried fasting but found that my Acne became more aggravated. I was drinking lots of water and teas. It's hard to interpret this less than appealing visual cue that my body keeps giving me in the form of cysts. What does it need??? Anyone???
