Re: Hi Shelly...Severe hairloss, hypothyroid & candida
Lordy, hair loss IS hard to take! OH so hard. I'm lucky in that having such long long hair no one notices that it has actually got quite thin at times, and whenever I'm having a really bad hair day I just wear one of my funky hats - I'm big on hats. :)
So do what you can to look and feel good while your thyroid adjusts. It takes something like 3 months to really know where your levels are on a new drug. Gradual increases are best for keeping your hair, any sudden change and you'll shed some more. But DO get it back up where it should be ASAP! :)
I'm not familiar with the drug you're taking. I'm taking Synthroid, 50-75 mcg, and that's a good solid dose. No chance to be hypo unless I forget to take it. ;)
Okay, the fact that you're not properly converting T3/T4 means you need more
Iodine in your diet. Seaweed is one of the best sources. Any kind of seafood, sea veggies,
Sea Salt , caviar.
It always helps to support your liver, but I don't think you need to do all that much. Maybe just some Livatone Plus. It's your adrenals that really need help after all you've been thru! Bieler Broth, and licorice root/gotu kola would be huge helps.
Be sure to drink just one cleansing drink nearly daily, and the protein shake at least 3x weekly minimum. You need adquate protein without eating a totally high-protien diet, the protein should be mainly liver, eggs, fish, poultry, nuts, broths. Protein feeds hair. The cayenne will increase circulation.
Hope that helps! :)
