DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting that anyone do this - just relaying my own
story. I think it's IMPERATIVE that each person know their own body, know
their own gallbladder attack routine and know what their personal limits are.
I'm not a medical professional and cannot even tell you if this was a
completely insane thing for me to do!

==========

Many of you know that I've been trying different things with each flush that
I've done. I've had varying results, but always have had some type of
results from them. The question has come up in an offlist correspondence
about how to get the gallbladder to possibly contract more strongly in order
to push out the stubborn stones.

Tonight there was a post about why rice and beans might trigger a gallbladder
attack and in Agnes's response she said:

So we theorized that since the gallbladder seems to be contracting so
strongly during an attack, maybe if the oil/juice was consumed at that time,
it would help to get out the bigger/harder stones. PLEASE keep in mind
that I'm not a medical professional and am just throwing out an idea here.
If there is any valid reason why this shouldn't be attempted, I'm sure
someone will let us know.

So then we started speculating about the (probably insane) idea of
intentionally triggering an attack in order to try this. The bizarre thing
is that within about ten minutes of writing about that idea, I started to
feel that tightness that precedes an attack. I have only had about one of
these episodes a month and here was one coming on right as I'm writing about
this new theory. So I stopped what I was doing when the pain started and I
went to the bathroom and made myself throw up (sorry to be gross, but I've
found that sometimes helps and besides, I wanted to empty my stomach out for
the olive oil. I don't normally encourage self-induced vomiting - trust me!)
then I went to the kitchen, squeezed some lemons (about 8 oz) and poured in
the rest of the oil that I had (about 6 oz) and drank it down.

I laid down for about two minutes and then came back to the computer because
I'd been talking with my sister online and she was understandably concerned.
I'm not kidding when I tell you that within 5 minutes (at the most) of
drinking the oil/juice the pain was gone. gone. completely. Now my
previous episodes have rarely lasted more than 20 minutes, but still - this
one was less than 10.

Now, the stone that was evidently causing the pain - did it drop back down,
or did it pass on through? Could the oil have worked that quickly? Time
will tell. I will let you know tomorrow if I see anything.

I'll keep you posted....

rachel~
