I have been raw for 5 months and for the last 3 months my hair has been falling out more and more. I often see other posters with this question and have yet to see in any book or website, a clear answer. Is it a sign that new fresh healthy hair is growing and taking the place of the old or is my diet deficient in some way?
It doesn't seem to happen to all raw fooders but there seems to be a significant number that have this problem. For those who have been on a raw food diet for a longer period, has there been a stage of hair loss and then regrowth? Has anyone modified their diet and seen a change in hair loss? Could it be a lack of fat or protein? Is it just another sign that the body operates in a delicate balance and when you make radical changes there are side effects until everything stabalizes?
By the way, I am a 54yo female, 5' 10"/ 130lbs. I was 15 lbs heavier and in good health when I started the raw diet. I was already dairy free and ate very little processed food. I ate meat about three times a week, either fish or chicken.
I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks
