A Fresh Approach
For the last three months I have had my candida under control, through a strict low carb diet. Most of the time, if I stick to the diet, I feel pretty good. But if I was to have a couple of glazed doughnuts for breakfast tomorrow, I would pay for it dearly for the next three or four days. The typical candida symptoms, the sinusitis, the brain fog, the tinnitis, and the insomnia would all come back. That is because I have been unable to implant healthy, thriving clonies of lactobacteria in my intestines. Healthy colonies of intestinal lactobacteria would prevent the candida from flaring up when I ingested the occassional carbohydrate filled meal.
For me at least, implanting lactobacteria may prove to be the most difficult part of "curing" candida. I have ingested gallons of "SCD legal" yogurt, more gallons of kefir, and bottles of probiotics, all to no avail.
So, I will try a week to ten days of taking oil of oregano at relatively high doses. Oil of oregano is supposed to be pretty effective stuff. Hopefully after a week the candida should be thoroughly beaten back back. I will then megadose on probiotics. The hope is that given a "clean" intestine the lactobacteria can become established before the accursed candida can make a comeback. I will maintain my strict low carb diet during this period.
I have come to the conclusion that taking anti-fungals and probiotics concurrently is most likely a waste of time and money. Anything strong enough to kill the candida will likely kill any lactobacteria as well. Even raw garlic is known for it's anti-fungal, anti-viral, and ANTI-BACTERIAL properties. Sure it's killing the candida, but I'm pretty sure it's killing any lactoBACTERIA as well. Anyway, little to lose, and maybe something great to gain.
