Re: Candida
Howdy. In the past I read up quite a bit on FOS, and took a form called inulin (Inuflora brand) for a couple months. It didn't seem to do much for me. Studies in Japan have supposedly shown good results with FOS prebiotics supplements (in general, these are long-chain molecule sugars), which are said by some to feed mainly the beneficial Bifido bacteria, as opposed to feeding pathenogenic bacterias. Prebiotics (food) are said to feed probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria in the gut.
That said, I personally saw no benefit from inulin. In the book "Restoring Your Digestive Health" by traditional/alt med doctors Rubin and Brasco, they mention "Prebiotics can cause bloating and cramping. In our experience, they do little to help maintain a healthy balance of microflora and can actually cause problems. We think you should avoid them. Dr. Basco has seen many patients become significantly worse after taking FOS and inulin."
My advice would be for you to experiment with these supplements if desired. Personally, I think I've lost faith in them as a supplement, but some others might disagree.
