Re: depression/anxiety/panic--vitamin deficiency

Hi lynda...Anxiety very well could be a vitamin deficiency. We're going through your very symptoms with my elderly mother-in-law right now. And her doctor has told her over and over that she is literally one of his healthiest patients. But
her mental state has completely moved to LaLa Land.

I came to this forum this morning before I go in to stay with her today...just
to see if any one had posted these problems about 'elderly' parents. And found
yours..and just wanted to help you if I can.

I feel Folic Acid along with Vit B Complex and B 12 Sublingual would help my mother-in-law AND you. But my mother-in-law just won't take it. She says that's
'jibberish'. :-) And her DOCTOR is trying to find something that will help her.

So far, her doctor hasn't found a med that will help her...except
ones that put her in a zombie state. She's 76...and one year
ago, before the panic attacks began...she was vibrant, alert
and could work circles around all of us.

But give the above vitamins a try. I really do think you'll
see a difference.

ALSO...I can't believe I'm recommending this. But our daughter
took me to an aromatherapy class a couple of weeks ago. I had
never studied aromatherapy...but she's grown and we don't have
that much time together, so I went. The teacher said at the end
of the class that she would put 1 drop of any 2 essential oils
on a kleenex and we could take it home. We could do one for
memory, or to calm us...or to give us a 'lifted spirit' mood or
just whatever. When she got to me...I said, I really am hyper
and happy all the time, the only real problem I have is that I
can't sleep. I'm up till at least 2 or 3 am...and then just
naturally wake up between 4 or 5. She said, "Ok, let me put a
drop of Geranium and one of Lavender in your kleenex and you take
3 or 4 deep breaths into the kleenex when you go to bed." I did
that and was asleep so fast, I could not believe it the next morning.
I slept not until 4 or 5am...but until 6:30am...now that's way
TOO much sleep for me. I like to get up before the world wakes
up and study or whatever while it's quite. But I slept all night...
can't even remember the last time that happened. My husband
laughed about it...said it was a 'freak thing'...but my kleenex
still smelled of the oils the second night...so I did it again...
went right to sleep and slept all night again...just woke up
absolutely dumbfounded...and woke HIM up to tell him. :-)
The 3rd night...there was still a slight scent in my kleenex (I had
wrapped it very tight to keep the scent as long as I could...for my
experiment). With the very 'light' scent still there...it took a
bit to go to sleep...and I woke up briefly 3 times...but still slept
very good. This 'teacher' does not sell the oils...but recommended if
we were interested to order for any one of 4 websites that she felt
were reputable. The CHEAPEST one :-)...(I'm a tight wad)...was
http://www.pennherb.com
Just tons of info there and essential oils are very reasonable...and
you can order very small amounts just to try them. I have about
8 or 10 on the way (also ordered some for our daughter). They should
be here next week...and I am sooooooooooo excited. So that's something
you can consider to help you sleep....essential oils of geranium and
lavender...and get them from a good reputable company. I also have
"calif orange" essential oil on the way...because it supposedly gives
the feeling of 'happiness' and 'all is well in my world'...or so it
says...so I'm putting that on my mother-in-laws light bulbs...to see
if it helps her. I'll have to do it without her knowing...or she'll
say I've ruined her light bulbs and made her house stink. :-)
You think you have problems now, lynda...just wait till you have elderly
parents or inlaws. :-) We have assured our grown kids this past week
that when my husband or I pass away...we will have it set up to automatically
have the other one put in a nursing home :-)to avoid these problems for them.

Hopefully, you'll get other responses, also. Good luck with your studies,
and I hope if you give the above things a try...that they work for you. kathryn
