Effexor - don't go there!

Hi,

I have been prescribed effexor a number of times over the years. The first few times I only took it for a short period 3-6 months. It worked well for the Depression but created a lot of gastric problems. The Depression and anxiety kept coming back, so in the end I was put on effexor for a long period...about 2 years...with time the dosage had to be raised to give the same effect (250mg a night), but the stomach problems got worse. In the end it just stopped working so I was taken off of it. I tapered off over a very long of 3 months. Even then I got horrid withdrawal symptons.

Now I am left with a wrecked digestive system, even a year after stopping effexor, one of my doctors reckons I have candida and leaky gut. She thinks the leaky gut was/is the root cause of my anxiety etc..

My thoughts on effexor....be wary, like all these drugs they simply mask the Depression and the underlying cause. Sure they work for some people at first, but for many they lose their potency after a while and the dosage has to rise to the point it can't go any higher. When you have to stop you find yourself in a worse place than you started in.

If you have to take it, and lets face it when your really down you desperately want something, try and take it for a short period and down keep on raising the dosage. That is a fools paradise.

Try something alternative...exercise, yoga...good nutrition...keep on searching

with love.x
