Re: Chron's disease

Skylah,
This is Rhonda again. I saw you were asking about supplements. I have a few I would recommend which my husband is taking. One is called L-glutamine, this is an amino acid used to feed the cells of the small intestines. I recommend 500 to 1000 milligrams thirty minutes before each meal. Most people only need to take this for 3 months but when you have Chron's disease it usually takes longer because you normally have increased intestinal permeability. Another I would recommend is called Acidophilus and Bifido bacteria. It will tell you on the container how much to take, it's different with different brand names. Usually it is very beneficial for people with Chron's to stay on this indefinetely. Incase you are wondering Chron's patients usually have an inbalance of good bacteria and bad bacteria in there intestines. Which is not good, you need the good bacteria to promote normal intestinal permeability and to help you absorb the nutrients you so vitally need. They also prevent the growth of bacteria that produces the dangerous enzymes that promote cancer.
Once again this is all in the book "Toxic Relief" by Don Colbert M.D.
I highly recommend these supplements as they are vital in your friend starting the process of healing his intestines and GI tract.
Rhonda
