Re: Benefits of extended fast....
You should look at fasting and body maintenance long term and use that as a barometer for mapping out a strategy to regain and maintain optimal health. Try not to make it about "numbers" since I also think the longer cleanses can be hard on your body, albeit healing...
My teacher, who is a kick-butt healer, gave me a good talking about the importance of integration and allowing the body to process the fast. She recommended only 28 days and so my compromise was 30 days for my long term fasts which I will do once a year and I just completed my second one.
My first long cleanse was really dramatic in my healing and my experience ran the gamut of highs and lows and then ultimately, 3 months after the cleanse, I began to experience hairfall. This does not happen to everyone but it did happen to me and was also a part of my healing experience and also happened to Somer who did do a 60 day cleanse. For this reason, I am limiting my long cleanses to 30 days. Somer went on to continue her healing experience by doing series of 10 day cleanses. She was also closely monitered by her naturopath as well. My second cleanse built on the foundation of the first one and was a breeze! I had done a
kidney cleanse and
parasite cleanse and
Liver Flushing in between so those other body maintenance efforts also contribute to an overall strategy and plan for success...
There is a phenomenon which happens in healing which was taught to me and described as "cycling". This involves periods of detoxing, alternating with periods of rebuilding. Since the blood is the main factor in rebuilding and detoxing, you want to give it time to rest and recuperate between detoxing such as not to overburden the body with waste. So, it is important to stop detoxing and clean your body filters and blood as well, eating foods which will create more *volume* in your blood. Anything green, like spinach, asparagus, brocolli, dark leafy lettuces, spirulina, wheatgrass...all strengthen and add volume to your blood. So consider these factors when you are devising your plan to rebuild your health. Your mind may be willing but the body does not think the same way and so your mind must be "kind" to your body and regulate your timing so that you are supporting and not *stressing* your body.
I wish you the best....
blessings,
Zoe
