Where do parasites come from? How do you know you have them??

I read alot of posts on this site that say people have expelled parasites and worms, how did they get these worms in them in the first place, I'm just curious... Are these parasites/worms living and actually going around inside you, or are they dead??... And what are the symptoms to know if you have parasites/worms living inside you?? Thanks Tweet
