Andy,
My name is Lexy - I am a 13 year old GS. I weigh 55 lbs and I too suffer from arthritis. So much so that my owner thought that I'd be dead by Thanksgiving - 2001!
I also have a MS type disorder on top of this arthritis. Here is what my owners have done: I drink only distilled water - from a height adjusted food/water dish (i don't bend my neck - it is at the perfect angle).
I eat a half serving of
Dr. Schulze 's superfood every day.
I take Dr. Christopher's B&B formula for the MS. It has been a lifesaver!
I get 3 -5 cloves of garlic every day (they think they're fooling me by putting it in peanut butter in a slice of ham).
Every so often they sprinkle some cayenne powder on my food. I like it too!
I don't climb the stairs anymore - they carry me up and down. I still walk EVERY DAY - but not as far as I used to. If i get tired after 2 laps - the come get me! Some days I walk 4 laps and won't let them stop at 3!
Finally - i got off cortisone! It made me so dumb! I would walk around dumbfounded. I am so happy to not be taking that crap anymore. If i have a stiff day or two - I get some licorice extract. But that has not been needed in months!
Woof,
Lexy
