Smart Eating

Yep, I believe it is also called The Zone Diet. When I lost my partner several years ago I got in terrible dietary trouble! Couldn't figure what to SHOP for, much less what to COOK, and far less what to EAT! I would stand in the aisle at the market and cry! I would look at my fridge at night and do the heavy sigh. It was awful.

I am a cook! I love to cook, and have always cooked! But finding myself alone... it was almost impossible.

My mother sent me the book, 40-30-30 Fat Burning Nutrition... haleleujia! A sensible eating plan I could shop, cook and eat on my own! Very clean, very balanced... it worked! I still use it as a basic guideline. The book has menus, portions and recipes along with all the protocol, and makes good sense to me. A couple sample menus:

Egg and cheese burrito
Fruit protein shake
Tortilla turkey roll up
Grilled teriyaki chicken dinner

Hot cereal and cottage cheese
Tuna pita pocket with fruit
String cheese and apple
Steak and potatoes

Fresh fruit and cottage cheese
Bagel sandwich
Cottage cheese and pineapple
Grilled fish dinner

I tend to have the fruit shake in the am for cleansing purposes. The diet is very satisfying and a fine way to eat long term. The book includes "fat flush" menus (extra cleansing) and vegetarian options.

Best,
Somer
