The King James Bible is probably the best known bible edition.

King James 1 was under political pressure. James purpose was to unite warring factions with one common Holy Bible using contemporary language, King James edition of the Bible was printed in 1611. King James Bible version was not altered for 250 years and has been credited with many words and phrases used in modern day English language such as an eye for an eye and God forbid.
