Re: Ultra Rare Mopar - Chrysler 300J Long Ram 413
My oldest brother had one of these cars--same color, but surely no that engine--I though the car was kool, because it had push button shift.
Before that, at age 16, he had a blue BARRACUDA with the large oval rear window---that car was REALLY KOOL, he had problems keeping it on the highway---he eventually totaled the car right down town on main street....
My other brother, he had a 57 chevy with fuel injection pipes coming out the hood and a different car every few months---all they did was drag race every night on some back road or city street----they had cool mustangs with shaker hood scoups-----big chevies and my sister bought a brand new 440 six pack SUPER BEE off the car lot---orange with black stripes and that LARGE REAR FOIL with the BIG BEE Pictured.....the 440 six pack was a DOG off the LINE, geared too high, my brother's 396 Chevrolet smoked it in the quarter mile.....
my sister's husband hated the super bee, because 4 pins held the hood on---pain in the ass to open the hood and several times he forgot to put the pins on and the hood flew off......so at maybe 3,000 miles he sold the thing-----brand new he purchased for $6,000, today in mint condition that same car sales for a fortune...
My first car? My brother got drafted to Vietnam war and he sold me his 1969 Fast Back Fair lane 428 Super Cobra Jet at age 15 for $1,100
That car could do 80mph in second gear and be standing still------going down the highway 60 mph "_IF" you downshifted into second gear and floored it---it would lay 2 black marks as long as you wanted on the road.
IN FRONT of my highschool was basically a straight DRAG STRIP---all we did was drag race at lunch time---all my friends had race cars at age 16.....if you didn't have 400 horse power, your car was a _____
My school car averaged a new clutch and new tires every 1,000 miles.
I NEVER GOT A SPEEDING TICKET-----at night, I learned how to drive with no lights, when I seen red lights in the rear window, I turned my lights off and was GONE....
In 1976 the New Ford Step side Trucks were introduced, I had to have 1 and my dad said sale that car, so i did for $600 to a circle track racer-----and about 1 month later Ford Motor Company called me searching for that car----they only made a few and most never survived racing......today that car is rare and I have never ever seen another one with the super cobra jet engine.
BACK then I got $5 per day milking cows before school.....for $5 per day, you could drive the fastest car in town....
SCHOOL TEACHERS? They loved watching us drag race in front of the school........when we drove our pick up trucks---we all had rifles in the back windows-----
THOSE WERE THE GOOD DAYS--------when cars had 400+ horse power
TODAY cars can have 600+ HORSE POWER and cost $50,000+, over $100,000+ if fairly new-----YET KIDS still drive those to high school, but the drag racing days are OVER
NO MORE DRAG RACING THE CAR BESIDE YOU TO THE NEXT LIGHT........
