Hi all! I am a 36 year old female with a very stubborn goiter. I’ve essentially had it my entire life. My lab work has for most of my life been normal and I don’t have any thyroid symptoms (I did in the past). My goiter is just on the right side of my thyroid gland. The size can fluctuate somewhat dramatically-seems to be the most swollen during ovulation and menstration-so half the month ha! I have tried everything under the sun including Iodine to shrink it with no success. I followed the Iodine protocol for almost two years. I felt amazing, lost 15lbs with no effort, seasonal allergies disappeared and my painful periods as well. To be honest I’m not sure why I stopped taking it-maybe because it never shrunk my goiter.
My question is-did I give it enough time? Did I give up to soon after two years? I made my way up to a fairly high dose but I always felt great and had minimal side effects. Should I start again? I’m convinced my goiter is from a low grade infection, I’ve had a couple doctors say that as well (but what do they know). I’d appreciate any advice or guidance. I’m at my wits end.
