Re: Worms, but all tests negative, finally cured!
2nd Update: I am now trying 3 capsules of Paratrex on an empty stomach, washed down with 1 tablespoon of vanilla-flavored Pyrantel Pamoate mixed with water, then waiting for at least 3 hours before eating in the morning. The theory here is that the worms will have nothing to eat for a while except Paratrex and Pyrantel. (And hopefully goodbye worms!) That's my latest plan. (This plan has desperation written all over it!)
UPDATE: THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE was posted in error: My stools have softened up again, so it is likely that the damned things have returned! I will resume my treatment approach with Paratrex, but run it for a longer interval this time to see if I can finally be rid of these parasites. SORRY FOR THE FALSE HOPE I MAY HAVE GIVEN YOU.
I am the original poster in this thread. I have had these worms for 4 years now. However, I strongly believe that I have now rid myself of them. I had tried every worm medication in the book with no success.
First of all, no tests by Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp ever confirmed my own observation that I had worms. They are both incompetent. It takes only a quick look at stool samples with a microscope to observe what I have seen in the photos I have posted.
My symptom, from Day 1, has been mushy stools. My stools are now relatively hard, as they used to be. So, though I'm not 100% sure, I'm 95% sure that my worms are gone. Only further use of my microscope (an unpleasant foray into poop handling) can give me 100% confidence.
I had thought that the reason medications weren't working could be because they were diluted by food. In my recent effort to rid myself of worms, I tried to concentrate the medication by leaving out the food. My approach was:
1) Don't eat anything after 6 PM
2) In the morning, take 3 to 4 capsules of Paratrex (an over-the-counter parasite medication) with a teaspoon of sugar-free psyllium husk.
3) Don't eat anything for 4 or 5 hours.
I did this for about 10 days and my worms seem to be gone. At least my major symptom is gone. Note however, that I oversimplified the medication. On 3 of those 10 days I added a tablet of Albendazole that I had left over. Also, I sometimes substituted some different OTC worm capsules for the Paratrex capsules. Also, I was eating lots of salads and almonds and limiting my total calories to 1500 per day.
Somewhere in my approach, I believe I realized some success in what has been a long-running battle with these pests. Good luck in your own efforts.
