Re: Can nascent iodine cause hyperactive thyroid?

EDIT: Considering you had only a very recent change, I'd be investigating the circumstances around what happened to you over thanksgiving. A parasite cleanse, fast or stronger intake of anti-virals may be in order. I'd personally take time to pray/meditate for an answer to what has occurred to cause the symptoms you're seeing, and for what to do.

Hiya! Yes, Iodine definately changes your thyroid levels. You could call your metabolisim our iodine-regulatory system, even.

The real key to success on it are the co-factors (nutrients that help it work).
I would definately pause the Iodine for a week or two, refresh your reading on the helper nutrients, and start again once you start to find the balances needed for your system.

Selenium especially protects the thyroid against damage while generating thyroid hormones, by helping neutralize the ROS (reactive oxygen species/particles) generated in the process.

Here's the most helpful page to bookmark and read while you are finding your footing on iodine:

The cheapest and best selenium is selenomethionine, often marketed as yeast-free selenium. take it after a meat/egg/butter meal, for the best absorption.

I'd like to encourage you to explain the situation around your intake of iodine.
*What your everyday diet looks like,
*if you've been any of the Iodine companion nutrients,

Things of that sort. Very good for figuring out the situation.
