If you're going to ask a question, ask a difficult one. What parent hasn't asked their child, "where are you?"

or

"Where have you been?"

in instances when the parent knew full well where their child was...

You're giving your child the opportunity to face up to you and be honest with their answer. Of course, this doesn't always happen, but I digress...
