The federal law applied by the FDA does nothing to prevent Humaworm from selling their products. The company has been obliged to cease marketing their products as medicines. The issue of funding for clinical trials is superseded by public safety and the prevention of advertising fraud.

The most notable case of fraud regarding zappers is that of David Amrein, who was challenged by the FTC and forced to cease his unfounded and illegal advertising. He still sells zappers, but without the associated fraudulent claims on their efficacy on his website.
