Re: Considering Zinc Supplement

Have you had your zinc levels checked? That might be a good place to start if you think you have a deficiency. If you do, replacing zinc in your diet should be a good first step in replenishing your zinc levels although a lot of food is deprived of nutrients these days.

One other thing to consider if you have a zinc deficiency is other vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Zinc, along with magnesium and calcium, generally requires stomach acid to absorb it from your food. Also, vitamin B12 deficiency is a major cause of fatigue and also requires stomach acid to break it down from your food. Because vitamin B12 is low in many types of food sources, getting a vitamin b12 shot is a good option if you want to make sure you are meeting your B12 needs.

Vitamin D is another vitamin that has grown in interest, especially in recent months. There is new research suggesting that the recommended doses for Vitamin D are too low.
