Good study, I am fortunate to live in plymouth in the uk, which has no fluoride in the water as the local council has always opposed it. The biggest danger to my health from fluoride in the uk and most other people has been the NHS dental - from an early age we were forced to use fluoride toothpaste as there was no other option, and then given very high level mercury fillings at school - there was no escape (with no injection either!) By the time I left school I had 8 old type mercury fillings which were far higher in mercury than the later ones. It is no surprise to me that I ended up with hashi's and have had to spend a fortune to reverse all the NHS damage. Living in a country with "free" healthcare isn't as good as people think it is because if you can't afford private the NHS will do everything in their power even nowadays to completely ruin your health and brainwash you into believing fluoride is good, mercury fillings are very safe, and taking medication to suppress any symptoms you have is the way to go. I no longer have strong opinions on Iodine either way, it can help or it can harm, and I think that all depends on how toxic you are, and how well your organs of elimination work. I trained as a nutritionist many years ago, and this is what the BBC assisted by the NHS did to the college I was studying at while I was there for daring to recommend iodine. It was in all the main newspapers, on the BBC news and totally ruined the college reputation. http://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/content/articles/2008/11/11/south_west_nutrition_s14_w9_feature.shtml Go figure.
