Re: My Mirena Hell....and what I'm doing
Thank you for posting this. I'm currently going to a Rheumatologist to find out if I have Rheumatoid Aritritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis or another autoimmune disorder. I'm mad...Background: I had my first son in August, I waited the required 6 Plus weeks to get an IUD because I'm nursing and my OB told me it was perfectly safe and the best thing ever...I talked to many women who have or had the IUD and they had great things to say about it. I read the warnings and it did not say anything about causing an autoimmune disorder. So I inserted it...literally a week later to the day, I started to experience joint pain and stiffness, I was in so much pain, I couldn't lift my son, or walk without feeling as if my feet were broken. I cried so much in pain, that I woke my husband up. I knew something was wrong. Now let me tell you, I'm 32 years old, I had a perfect pregnancy (I exercised up until the day he was born) I had no joint problems, and I have no family history of any autoimmune disorder. So I thought the only thing that changed was the IUD, I called my doctor and she told me that it could not be the IUD, no WAY...I told her I wanted to remove it and she convinced me to keep it in another 4 weeks for my body to "get use to it"...well that didn't happen and my symptoms got worse...so much worse. I couldn't go to work for 3 days, I couldn't drive, pick up my son. Finally, I convinced her to remove it, but the symptoms remained and got worse...so I went to my primary care doctor, and she did a
RA factor test and my numbers were through the roof... It took me another 3 months to get into a specialist. and finally today I will find out what I have. I'm beyond convinced that this was caused by my IUD (Skyla) and I will be damn sure to tell everyone I know about it. I'm wondering if you ladies know of any class action suit against the company? I'm going to demand a silcone posioning test as well.
