Re: My Mirena Hell....and what I'm doing

If you click on my User name, it will bring up my past posts (if you want nitty gritty detail!). The initial ones tell my story on this forum. Lately I am more active on the Truth in Medicine forum. But here's a summary of my story: I'm 39. I had the Mirena placed in Oct. 2007 after my 4th child. Several months later, I developed a persistent tendonitis in my right wrist which continued for over a year, even after a cortisone shot. The Dr. was surprised it didn't clear up. During the summer of 2009, I had recurrent strep throat and multiple Antibiotics until I had an allergic reaction. During that time and afterwards, I had a constant malaise, low-grade fever, bad hair thinning (I can see my scalp easily through my hair on top of my head now. Then in October of 2009 my symptoms went neurological. I had vertigo, very spacey head, tingling and chills all over my scalp and body all the time, hands falling asleep at night, very shaky hands and whole body, severe fatigue, episodes of waking at night in a panic/adrenaline rush, mild anxiety during the day (which I NEVER had before), then a horrible weakness in my right arm. I finally had the Mirena out (after finding this forum) month later. This November, I'll be a full year post. After the IUD was out, my wrist cleared up within a week. But since then it's been a real roller coaster for me. I had a good month in April and August, but that's about it. I was tested for diabetes (I was losing weight rapidy, but that's fine now - back to normal), thyroid (tests are normal), lupus (blood work was normal), and MS (normal). I was tested for dozens of other things - all normal except for ANAs and rheumatic factor of 14 (just at the top of the normal range, but high enough to be a red flag). Today, I struggle with the weakness in my right arm which is also in my right leg now (as of this summer). I still have dizziness sometimes (but no vertigo). I'm slightly less shaky. I still have strange adrenaline rushes at night sometimes, but not as often. I have much more energy now and no more strep or yeast infections. I have a microvascular circulation disorder called erythromelalgia, which affects me many times a day. It happens along with other autoimmune disorder and can be related to problems with the autonomic systems. I have a very heavy, hard heartbeat which is unusual. So, some things are a bit better, some things are new, some things are much better. I believe I have severe hormone imbalance, and well as issues with autoimmune and autonomic dysfunction. Just hoping my body can correct if with time. I am still alive and focusing on caring for my family. I am not afraid of dying so much at least. I hope desperately that I will get back to normal. But I realize the IUD might have ruined my body to some degree. I do not have the strength to exercise but am hoping that day will come. I've worried about Parkinson's and ALS, but am choosing not to have additional tests done. I have no money left, and I would probably have to go to Mayo or see some serious specialists to figure it out. My MD can't tell me anything. I live in a small town, so seeing specialists would require travel and lodging I can't do. I am waiting. I am grateful for my good days and trying to be patient during the bad. Some people heal much faster, and I pray you will be one of those!
