Considering the fact that the problems came up after penicillin, has anyone suggested the idea that this may have altered the gi tract. In that the healthy bacteria may have been destroyed. You might want to look at beneficial e-coli. This is not the e-coli you hear about in the press but rather a different strain. European doctors seem to know quite a bit about it and they report that it is the bacteria that provides a substrate for the other healthy bacteria. Mutaflor is an e-coli supplement that is manufactured in Germany, though I do not think it is available in the US. Their website (Mutaflor) has several medical papers about this product.

I would read about kefir, Colostrum and apple cider vinegar which might improve the ecology of the gut. Tweet
