Re: childhood development support
You used hate speech, RETARDS, which is considered as bad as using the N word and is hate speech.
I have known many parents of children both with disability and also autism. The first thing you made the mistake of is the autism spectrum is so wide that you wouldn't even know that many people who have autism. Some people with autism are mathematical geniuses. Some people with autism can play the piano like an expert just by listening to the keys. Some people with autism sell art for millions of pounds, my point is they are hugely talented.
Next in my experience when you let a child play with other children they are like them, another child. When you tell your child that the other child has disabilities that child is now seen differently by your child and this can effect the relationship your child has with the other child.
Also children are very excepting of other children and I have never witnessed another child catching autism! However, I have come across parents who don't want their kids mixing with children with disabilities, it's not the child, it's the adult.
We have a channel on tv for children called cbbc and it's presented by different people. A few years ago a young woman joined the team of presenters who had an arm that was clearly classed as of a disabled form but it didn't seem to effect her job and she actually presented cbbc very well. Unfortunately a number of people telephoned the BBC to complain that they thought her presenting would have a bad effect on their children watching!
