Yes, if you have the gut

Balanced natural microbiom is important for people who still have large itestine.

Conditions in which doctors would suggest permanent colostomy include:

a blockage
an injury
Crohn’s disease, which is an autoimmune form of inflammatory bowel disease
colorectal cancer
colonic polyps, which is extra tissue growing inside the colon that may be cancer or may turn into cancer
diverticulitis, which occurs when small pouches in your digestive system, called diverticula, become infected or inflamed
imperforate anus or other birth defects
irritable bowel syndrome, which is a condition affecting the colon that causes diarrhea, bloating, constipation, and pain in the abdominal area
ulcerative colitis, which is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes the long-term inflammation of the digestive tract

If the good microbiom is not there, it almost automatically means that some other pathogenic microorganisms may take the same place occupied previously by non-pathogenic bacteria.

As one of the function of large intestine is to absorbe liquid and salts from the feces, and to transport it to the liver, pathogenic microorganisms (PMO) may actually change the large intestine, increase the intestinal permeability, and allow for some substances to be absorged, somethig that normally would not have been absorbed.

Those substances may affect everything, your brain, your health, and those substances may be a factor in autoimmune diseases, etc ...

All these potential problems may disappear if a person performs FMT.

All these potential problems also disappear once you remove the colon.

No colon, no good bacteria, no bad bacteria, no absorption of unwanted stuff, etc.

Beware, people whose entire colon has been removed are not a picture of health!

Often, their quality of life is severely reduced, if compared to those who opted for FMT and whose FMT cured inflamed bowel or IBS.

Often, UC is the reason for colostomy, and FMT seems to be far safer way to cure UC than colostomy. May not work for everyone.... nothing works for everyone!
