Re: Theory of the cause of EC (technical discussion)
Hey, thanks for the interest!
My lips still peel at about a 4-5 day cycle. If my lips become very dry after a 3 hour period of constant talking, I apply Gloves in a Bottle afterwards which really helps to moisturize.
I only use GIAB in this manner at the moment. I did try the protocol suggested by Cottonmouth (I believe) to apply a few layers GIAB on raw skin, which unfortunately didn't seem to fully heal me. I do, however, get the idea that my lips dry out less quickly, as compared to the period after I stopped using Aquaphor constantly. Maybe this is due to GIAB?
Not using Aquaphor atm unless I need perfectly appearing lips for important social events, in which case I apply Aquaphor 3 days in advance to allow enough time for 'gentle' exfoliation.
Another thing: I did some stool tests for Candida and leaky gut. It appears that I no longer have Candida, but I do have a leaky gut (as measured by an abnormally high concentration of zonulin in my stool). My gastroenterologist (at the uni hospital) has never even heard of zonulin. This is strange, because there is a growing body of scientific literature that links this substance to a leaky gut. Doctors.......
This week I did another stool test and a blood test, to confirm if my gut is indeed leaky and if the leaky gut results in generalized inflammation in my blood circulation. I expect a very mild increase in this inflammation, which may however be enough to cause dilated vessels in my lips/ This may, in turn, prevent maturation of my lip skin cells.
We will see if this is indeed the case, I'll let you know!
