Water fasting was working then something went wrong.

Have I done something wrong? It was going so well, then everything went south.

After watching videos on Water Fasting curing hypertension and diabetes I decided to try it. I have been insulin resistant for a long time and was borderline of getting worse and have been on Atenolol for high bp and heart rate for 2 yrs and I hate the way it makes me feel, especially the anxiety it causes me. I have fasted for shorter periods before and thought Water Fasting sounded like it would work.

First 4 days of fasting went as expected, flu like symptoms, crabby, but drinking lots of water (we are on a well so not chemicals, but lots of calcium). And still taking my meds.

These first 4 days my bp went up which I expected due to the toxins being released.

Day 4 or 5 my bp started dropping slowly and a little erratically, but it kept gradually going down. When I would get it down to less than 120/80 I would reduce my meds. First by half, then by half again.

I got down to 1/4 of the meds I normally take and stayed there with normal to low normal during the second week, right when I thought I would have been going off the meds everything changed.

Then things went nuts... I got a horrible lower back ache, throbbing, didn't know at the time that this was a normal side effect of fasting. Then blurry vision set in, bp stayed low but did fluctuated some. Then I got really cold and had a very I hard time drinking water, I wanted to throw up every time I drank.

On day 12 I ate 1/2 of an avacado, next day vision and back ach was a little better, still could barely drink. I did the same the last 2 days, salad once a day, then ended it.

After ending the fast my bp started going up, I got chest pains and dizzy spells. I knew I was dehydrated so I forced 104 oz of water in 1 day, mostly in the morning and thought I was having a heart attack. Took some magnesium and potassium and bp continued to rise. Finally my kidneys started working again and the more fluid I passed the better I felt, but my bp is now a mess.

Long story short I am now intermittent fasting 8/16, but I am back to full dose of meds and my bp is as high as it used to be without meds, 180's/90s when it's up and 150's/80's when I can get it to come down. But my eart rate is really low like 56 to low 70's on occasion.

It's like my bp got worse.

What did I do wrong? I know this was working. Nurse thought maybe I messed up my electrolytes I know I dehydrated myself, but why didn't it go back down after hydrating? Where do I go from here?

I live in the north and honestly the hardest part was drinking so much water when it is so cold this winter.

Should I continue with the 8/16 intermittent fasting until it's warmer and try again?

How do I keep my electrolytes up and fast too?

How do I come off the meds safely?

Can I salvage this or did I just waste the whole 2 wk fasting period..... I KNOW THIS WAS WORKING... I was at 1/4 meds for days with no problems.

SO DISCOURAGED

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
