DRcap eperiments

DRcaps disolve quickly when in contact neutral water. So what's the point of using acid resistant caps when they will contain moisture?

A Size 0 DRcap was filled with water containing a dye. It was placed in a 00 DRcap and then a 000 gel cap and immersed in pH1 HCL acid in a test tube. This was repeated and immersed in neutral distilled water.

After about 30 to 40 minutes, both the 0 and 00 DRcaps appeared to disolve somewhat into the 000 gel cap.

After 60 minutes, the gel cap in water had shed some of it's outer bulk which was pooling on the bottom of the test tube. There was no visible shedding in the acid solution. The cap in the acid solution appeared to be more integral whereas the cap in the neutral water was a little swollen.

After 90 minutes, the water in the neutral test tube had a slight coloured tinge but the cap appeared to be integeral. There was no colour in the acid solution.

After 2 hours there was a faint colour in the acid solution

After 3 hours, the cap in the neutral water tube had come apart. The cap in the acid solution was still integral.

After 5 hours, the cap (top of the gel capsule) had come off. The inner DRcap seemed to be holding it's shape. The acid solution was coloured but the DRcaps still retained the darker coloured dye and was not totally destroyed.

It seems that a gel cap does better in acidic conditions as apposed to neutral water, but why bother getting DRcaps when both will quickly fall apart in water?

A 00 gel cap was filled with coloured water. within a minute, tiny bubbles appeared on the bottom, on the outside of the cap. It burst with pressure and and hit me right in the friggin eye! It was repeated. Same thing. This doesn't happen with a DRcap. It just falls apart.

A 00 gel cap was filled with coloured water, placed in a 000 gel cap and immersed in acid solution. Within 3 minutes, it blew apart. It was repeated. Same result.

A 00 DRcap was filled with coloured water, placed in a 000 cap and immersed in acid solution. It lasted for more than 3 hours.

This was all done in a static enviroment. With churning and movement in your stomach, I find it hard to beleive that you will get 90 - 180 minutes  before the caps release but that's how they did it in the published trials, so I will go with it.

To be on the safe side, I will take 30 to 40 caps with Betain HCL to insure acidity.
