Re: Adrenal fatigue, anxiety
My symptom list was similar to yours when I was in my late 20s and beginning my downward spiral. Unfortunately for me little information was available and so I did not even begin to improve until my late 30's.
You are fortunate to have groups such as this where you can ask questions and look for leads.
A Cutler, a PhD chemist whose information has been helpful to me, says when the adrenal cortex is failing to produce enough cortisol the adrenal medulla sometimes tries to compensate by making more adrenaline-like chemicals.
While this can help one to survive in an emergency situation, we are not likely to want to spend extended time in such an amped up mode.
There are also a number of other things you might be able to try to help promote a calmer personality. They may help to reduce the stress on your adrenals and allow you to avoid supplementing with hormones--pregnenolone, progesterone cream, DHEA and others only available in the US via doctor's script.
Many of us don't consume the amount of the mineral magnesium that the US RDA recommends and that our ancestors consumed. We consume too much processed foods. Magnesium is involved in many biochemical processes including at least one related to a calmer mood.
Epsom Salt is magnesium sulfate. Sulfate is needed by the liver to get rid of substances that tend to amp us up. Some people prefer the more subtle effect of a foot bath.
Learn about amino acids such as glutamine and GABA. They are almost magical for a close female friend with a long history of PTSD.
Remember the cortex, steroid hormones are made from cholesterol as seen here.

Is your diet and absorption--digestive enzymes, stomach acid, etc--adequate?
Various vitamins and minerals are beneficial to adrenal cortex. Vitamin C, B5 and I think zinc are among the more commonly mentioned supplements.
Much more could be said!
