The fatter end is the end that was protruding from the skin. Indentations are from being held by the tweezer.

The thing curled end is the end that was attached to tissues, very very strongly.

On the night I was infested I was sitting on a patio with no shoes on. I was told later that the patio had never been cleaned and a large untreated dog lived there.
