Re: Broken Cycle?

A few initial comments:
1. It is not exactly a secret that dreams often speak to us in symbols and have an internal logic that conflicts with our real life experiences.
2. I believe that most of our dreams are meant to be feedback to the dreamer. They let the dreamer know how he/she is progressing spiritually and psychologically.
3. Many of the symbols that we see in our dreams can be found in the myths and religions of a wide range of different societies – especially pre-industrial societies.

If we accept the above comments, we should look at the different images as having religious symbolism.

Some specifics about the dream:
1. In the dream world, the bike might symbolize the dreamer’s journey through life.
2. When I see large numbers, such as 140, I usually factor it into smaller numbers. Although there are several way to factor 140. I used 140 = 4 X 5 X 7. The number 4 would symbolize wholeness while 5 would symbolize initiation into the next level of development. The number 7 would represent the end of a cycle. (BTW – these are my interpretations of these numbers and are not necessarily what you might find on the internet.)
3. The dreamer’s bike is resting against a tree. The chain/mechanisms etc have been replaced by wood, i.e. plywood, but the wheels are still there. The tree has a long tradition in many myths and religions. The plywood is an extension of the wood/tree. The wheels are still there; therefore, the bike can still be used to explore the unconscious.
4. The child who runs in front of the dreamer’s path probably symbolizes a new beginning. The path would be the dreamer’s direction in life or in the spiritual world.
5. The dreamer needs to get to the cupboard/room. If the cupboard/room is a storage room for plates/eating utensils, this would be another good sign. These are used for the preparation, serving and eating food. In the real world, food gives us energy and lets us grow. It has a similar spiritual/psychological meaning in our dreams.
6. The green grass is another good sign. Any healthy grass, tree or other plant is almost always a good sign.
7. The coloured lights, perhaps a string of xmas tree lights, is another good sign. The allusion to xmas may have something to do with the death of the old and the birth of new. This is supported by the tree and the child.
As we see, there is a lot of good stuff in this dream.

Hope this helps,
