Re: Alternatives to Cascara Sargada and Senna?
What do you mean by pseudo obstruction? Severe constipation?
I used to be prescribed senna by my doctor but I got off that and started using lecithin which works very well for me. It can be combined with magnesium citrate which provides important magnesium. Taking both should soften the stools if you take sufficient. Take it 3 times daily and work up until things begin to move. You might have to lower it when things begin to move.
Constipation can have emotional aspects to it. Some people who repress the sadness emotion both the inner feeling (left side) and the expression of the emotion (right side) affecting the descending and ascending colons, can cause restricted nerve impulses to the colon. If Increased Intestinal Permeability Syndrome aka Leaky Gut is combined then very severe constipation can result. It can alter from a slow colon to a very constipated colon.
I have noticed that water star signs tend to be affected by repressed sadness more than any other signs for some reason. It does hold true in so many cases but it depends upon how the emotions are handled and whether the inner feeling or outer emotional expression is repressed. Either one or both can be repressed which affects the descending and ascending colons.
Lecithin is available from Soya and Sunflower but ATM sunflower seems to be in very short supply and the costs have risen. There is de-oiled lecithin which is best because sunflower lecithin is high in omega 6 which promotes inflammation. That is not a good combination with leaky gut.
The short supply and dramatic rise in prices means I have had to go back and order from Germany where the prices are much better than in my country. The German stuff doesn't taste as nice though so it is not perfect. Lecithin can be purchased in liquid ie very thick and a nightmare to use as I have tried it and it can be purchased in powder or granules which is usually Soya based. Choose which you prefer.
I mix 120 grams of sunflower lecithin powder with 750 ml of water mixed with a hand blender. Then take 5ml spoons x as many as needed, mixed in water or added to meals. I take about 8 teaspoons at a time multiple 2 or 3 times a day. I was taking 20+ only once which did not work as well.
It takes quite a bit but it does soften the stool well and it does have other benefits to cell membranes and is helpful to the liver.
