Am I stuck with amalgam forever?

Hello.
My 12 teeth have Amalgam in them and the x-ray shows that they seat deep.I was told by the dentist that after their removal, I will have teeth sensitivity which will only can be removed by doing root canal which means that teeth will be no longer alive.

I am in my 40th and not too sure if it worth to remove amalgam( I know that is is poison), but also, at the same time I don't want to kill 12 teeth and to have them perhaps other 20 years in my mouth before they fell off.
