In regards to chinese herbs, I want to add that a highly renowned acupuncture and herbalist in my area sources his herbs from select areas and boils them in a special manner to process as many heavy metals out as possible. He was classically trained in Chinese medicine since the age of 8, at which time he was learning from actual monks. An MD even came from the east (to west coast) just to shadow him. He discourages gluten and fruit consumption and encourages digestive enzymes, similar to Wilson. Anyway, he is a very open minded practitioner who combines traditional Chinese wisdom with modern circumstances and even he seems to acknowledge many things Wilson speaks about that are..."so weird".
