Re: Question for our Catholic Friend
My understanding of Purgatory is that it is a place that those who attached themselves to Christ go to Cleanse their souls once they move from this world to the next. They are saved, but not pure enough to be in the presence of God.
"Psalm 66
10 God, you have put us to the test, refined us like silver,
11 let us fall into the net; you have put a heavy strain on our backs,
12 let men ride over our heads; but now the ordeal by fire and water is over, you have led us out to breathe again."
When it comes to eschatology I am not the strongest, but I do my best to learn. Yes we as Catholics do believe in the 1000 year reign of Christ. We also have something we believe in related to it from Mother Mary called the messages of Fatima.
The messages of Fatima given by Our Lady prophecized ww1 and ww2. It also forecasts a great chastisement for humanity for its great sin. After the chastisement a peaceful reign will be given to humanity.
Next year is the 100 year anniversary of the Messages of Fatima which is significant in relation to the messages given by Our Lady in La Salette. Many Catholics believe next year the great chastisement will arrive which is prophecized. The messages contain a lot, so I can't go into great detail about them. But just look up Fatima messages on YouTube and many things will come up.
