Most times it just exaserbates an already predisposition to be depressed. Getting a handle on it with the exaserbation will be harder, I'm sure, but often times just realizing that is very helpful.
Most of us have NO idea how to be emotionally competent, which is actually the underlying cause of most 'mental wellness' issues.
I am quite sure that addressing it as a compentency issue will help even if you have this or that 'disease'. I'd go further to say how you are incompetent is what determines where and what 'illness' shows up.
