Candida feeding on Lacto bacteria?

My candida symptoms were mostly localized to my gut over the last year (bloating, discomfort etc). Doctors told me that I have IBS or SIBO. Treated with xifaxan, which made things worse. So later, in August of this year, I decided to treat myself and started to take strong probiotics (VSL#3). After a couple of days I started feeling sick (constantly dizzy, brain fog, numb face, rash sometimes etc). I've read that it could be die-off. I stopped taking the probiotics hoping that all those symptoms will go away but ever since then I have those symptoms.

Now, with a better understanding that it's candida and treatment - the symptoms had gotten somewhat better but I'm trying to understand why the probiotics made things so much worse.

Was candida feeding on Lacto bacteria (VSL is mostly Lacto bacteria) and releasing gases that made me feel so bad or was it a die-off reaction from good bacteria fighting candida? Then why didn't the symptoms go away? I'm confused. What do you think?
