I have this. I have crusting on both head and face. I also get increased die-off when I dye my hair, so can confirm that seems to kill them -- or whatever is on me. The dermatologists (a lot of them) are not able to confirm this for sure, however they seem to think it is demodex. The reason for that belief is that when they gave me ivermectin (broad spectrum anti-parasitic) I had a massive die-off. I have pictures of that -- not good.

Anyway, yes I have crusting. Biopsies here cannot test for demodex. I find that odd, but that is the norm here in Canada. The biopsy DID show bacteria and I have been on Antibiotics for about a year now. I am not cured, sadly.

However, can confirm crusting. Have you tried minocycline? That brings the crusting down on my scalp. This is all so rotten.

Also, Nustock, a sulphur product for animals (available on Amazon) helps keep crusting down, although it doesn't cure it. try sleeping with about a tblsp of nustock in coal tar shampoo with some mint oil to dim the pain.itchiness. I suggest you try Antibiotics , as the die-off of these organisms causes bacterial secondary infection.

Also, topical ivermectin has been made legal and you can get it with a prescription. It's called rosiver or soolantra. Eurax cream, available on Amazon, also helps my scalp. It INCREASED crusting, but then got better.

I have gotten my symptoms to be less severe, but have not been able to cure this.
