Re: Help on supplementing with magnesium

Oh, forgot to mention: you can take your magnesium on a fast, but I advise against it in most cases. In the case that your body rejects a portion of the magnesium, or needs to move other things out of the body (all the others things that come with your magnesium supplement, including some trace minerals that your body might not need or want), it's good to have fiber and fat and other nutrients available to make elimination easier. What you'll be risking is intestinal irritation and malabsorption, undermining your efforts in fasting. If you decide to use a magnesium supplement while fasting, you can minimize negative effects and vastly increase the benefits you receive by using a much smaller amount than you would have normally. (Ex: you usually do well with 300mg, so while juice fasting you use 50-100, and not all at once.) The body becomes much more efficient during fasts, but also much more sensitive, so care needs to be taken or your efforts will be wasted. Rule of thumb during a juice or water fast: less is more!
